All about that bass and treble!
As games have progressed into ever more epic pieces of art, so too have their soundtracks and soundscapes. So those naff little speakers built into your awesome looking flat screen LED TV really don't deliver the full experience. Not to mention the fact that you'll be constantly turning it down to almost inaudible levels in order to save disturbing your room mates or family.
To Save the hassle and help you experience all the sounds you should, without breaking the bank of course, heres my short list of headsets that I believe rank among some of the best available.
5. Logitech G430 Surround Sound Gaming Headset (PC/PS4)
Coming from a predominantly PC brand name, you’d expect good things from Logitech and with the G430 Headset, you’d be right! Sound quality is amazing, offering a full 360 experience while the design looks suitably futuristic but still offering superior comfort thanks to puffy, breathable mesh ear cups. Sure, it requires a string of cables to get these working with your PC or PS4, but if you’re not one to be running around the room after a kill streak then you’ve got nothing to fear here!
4 - Official Sony PS4 Headset (PS4/Mobile)
While limited to compatible devices, this headset had to make the list simply thanks to its sleek design and ease of use. The mic is integrated, meaning no chunks of plastic sticking in your face during play and If you’re somewhat of an audiophile, you can head to the Playstation website and create your own custom sound profiles, ready to use at the flick of a switch. Expect a fair 8 hours of battery life.
3 - Polk Audio 4Shot Headset (Xbox One/PC/MAC/Mobile)
The Polk Audio 4Shot may not be a wireless headset but boy does it offer great audio! Connecting to your Xbox One controller through the supplied adapter, set up is easy while the headsets build will sit comfortably on your melon for hours. Compatible with mobile devices and any 3.5mm jack sporting device, the Polk 4Shot has a smooth design that looks good enough to wear in the street as you blast music from your iPhone. These had to make the list simply because of how surprised we were by the audio quality on offer for such a low price.
2 - Tritton Kunai Stereo Wireless (PC/PS4/PS3/Xbox360/WiiU/Mobile)
An unexpected contender in the list, the Tritton Kunai Wireless is an impressive little package. Compatible with a vast range of consoles and devices (Xbox One sadly not included however) this headset offers style and great sound at a decent price. We had to knock it down a peg due to a gentle hum which occasionally distracts when not using chat, but this is a small price to pay.
1 - Turtle Beach Stealth 500 (PC/MAC/PS4/PS3/Mobile Devices - TV)
The king of this list may not be the cheapest, but with a great comfortable build and a plethora of sound options, as well as an optional 3.5mm jack cable for mobile devices, this is one serious all rounder. plus, thanks to the wireless function running through an optical audio connection, this headset has the potential to work with any console, including the Xbox One. Simply by routing audio through your TV as normal and hooking your wireless receiver into the television. Sounds good right? Expect a solid 15 hours battery life, before needing a recharge!
