When Fallout 4 was announced through a teaser trailer that Bethesda threw online, I was wetting myself with excitement! I easily watched the trailer a good 5-6 times.
Ok, who am I kidding! I downloaded it and rinsed it over and over! The only thing that could have made the trailer better, was some gameplay!
So thank the gaming gods that Bethesda showed off a huge amount of gameplay at their conference, as well as spilling the beans on some new game mechanics and more!
So, brass tacks. Fallout 4 is coming this year and you'll have the chance to play it on November 10th on Xbox One, PS4 and PC!
Todd Howard, game director of Bethesda Game Studios, took to the stage in order to personally show us a glimpse into Fallout 4 and the ruins of Boston.
The E3 demo kicked off with an insight into character creation, which has had an overhaul to become a much more detailed yet subtle experience! Yes, you can play as both a male or female, your choice but in a first for the series, your character has a voice!
Yes, visually it still runs on the Oblivion engine but Bethesda have assured everyone that theres no fear of 'Skyrim Face'. (Just check out the trailer below and you'll see it looks gorgeous!)
We saw our vault dwellers faithful furry companion in action who basically stole the show somewhat, thanks to his ability to follow commands and fetch specific items when needed to. A small addition perhaps but a f*****g awesome one none the less!
The V.A.T.S system makes a big comeback, and in true gory fashion allows you to pause the action and target specific body parts on your enemies. The Pip-Boy has also seen a huge upgrade, revealing a layered armour system and the ability to play tapes.
Not just for back story and discovered info mind you, oh no! You'll also be able to play mini-games such as a knock off Donkey Kong and Asteroids! A game within a game of a game? INCEPTION!
The biggest addition however came when Howard showed off creation features, allowing you to scrap items you find on your travels and turn them into materials for building structures and settlements. You'll be able to build your own terminals that hook up to a working power grids as well as constructing defensive tools like turrets because, of course, your settlement will often be under attack from raiders.
Weapon crafting is another option worth investing your time in, even allowing you to modify your very own power armour. Fallout 4 will include over 50 base weapons and over 700 available mods.
On top of all this great news, there was one more special ti bit of information that made everyone giddy. Fallout 4 will be getting the collectors edition treatment and it will come with your very own pip boy!
A fully sized replica, you'll be able to slot your phone inside and make use of the games companion app, letting you control a plethora of options straight from your wrist, just like in the game! Boom! essentially, a working Pip-Boy menu interface. You slot your phone in the real Pip-Boy then run around like you're in a wasteland. This app is due out on iOS and Android devices when Fallout 4 comes out on 10th November 2015.
Now, if you're not already excited for Fallout 4, then check out the trailer below and a few screenshots that follow! (If that doesn't get you ready for a trip to the wastelands, then theres no saving you!)
