Starbreeze have revealed the StarVR project with the aim to become one of the leaders and experts in virtual reality entertainment.
The indépendant creator, publisher and distributor, perhaps best known for their work on The Darkness series and Chronicles of Roddick Escape from Butcher Bay, announced its virtual reality initiative as well as their acquisition of the French company and VR engineering firm, InfiniteEye.
Bo Andersson Klint, CEO of Starbreeze, had this to say.
“Starbreeze’s vision is to become a leader in the entertainment industry by delivering world class experiences. The landscape of entertainment is transforming and we strongly believe VR will be a big part of the story of our industry going forward. Our StarVR aims at bringing the next generation entertainment experiences to reality. By immersing ourselves into the VR field, we aim to learn fast, position Starbreeze for the future and allow people to enter into new worlds.”
Interestingly, stepping into the world of publishing, Starbreeze will also be collaborating with new partners such as Lionsgate, Skybound, 505 Games, Grab and WeVR. Interestingly you'll notice a shot of The Walking Dead logo from Skybounds currently in the works title. Does this mean we can expect a Walking Dead VR experience? I really hope so!
Starbreeze will showcase its StarVR HMD at this years E3 on June 16-18, but if you're not already attending, check out the short video and screenshots below for more on what to expect!
