Well, it's been a long wait but we all knew it was coming, Gears of War 4.
One of the industries worst kept secrets was officially announced during Microsofts E3 conference, with the announcement preceding some rather beautiful, albeit extremely dark, gameplay footage live on stage.
With the games moniker having been stripped back to simply 'Gears 4' in the gameplay session we got to see two brand new and as yet unknown characters as they explored a rather dark and ominous environment.
Traditional Gears gameplay is present and how you would expect, with the iconic cover-based action and brutal chainsaw attacks back with a fresh lick of next-gen gloss.
Gears 4, developed by Microsoft-owned studio The Coalition, is due out holiday 2016 and that short demo, along with the familiar roar of the Lancer had us all wishing it would come around sooner!
The Gears of War news didn't end there, as the heavily rumoured Gears of War: Ultimate Edition also got a confirmation. Coming in at 1080p 60fps, this remaster of the first game is due out on August 25th, with a one week public BETA kicking things off immediately.
